View from Saint Mark's Square

This is a small watercolor on Bockingford 300 gsm/140 lb CP(NOT) Oatmeal colored paper measuring 6 x 6.5(15 x 17 cm). I used Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber and for the shading I used Ultramarine Blue mixed with Burnt Sienna/Burnt Umber where needed. I wanted to capture the old world feel with the earth tones.

Yes, this is unmistakingly Venezia, a view from St. Mark's Square, where the Gondolieri are waiting to show you throught he beautiful canals. This was from a picture I took in 2005.

This is my first visit to your wonderful creative canvas.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
It would be wonderful if your work were on postcards so that the beauty you have put on canvas could travel the world for many to see .
For those who do not live in front of their computers :)
    Your work is very beautiful,
    looking forward to more visits.
    I really liked crashing waves.
    Have a wonderful day.
    Happy Trails

  2. Hi there. You have some beautiful pictures here. I love the beautiful orange flower at the top too. I think postcards would be a great idea too or perhaps a coffee table book.

  3. What encouragement! Thank you Terry and Mystery Lady. Great ideas. I will have to gander at the thought of both postcards and a coffee table book....that is after I finish the big project of finishing the yard. I am sure my wife will be writing about it! Thanks again.

  4. I recently found a place that allows people to self publish coffee table books. I only looked at the prices of some of the soft cover photo books and they seemed quite reasonable. $6.95 and up each depending on size etc. I don't know what the hard covers would be. Anyway, it is lulu.com. I'm now thinking about consolidating the family photo albums into a few of these books - just for family. When I learn more about doing more professional photos maybe a coffee table book will be in my future too.

I thought I might drop in and find out how the yard is coming along ?
I also just needed to see some visual beauty and your blog does provide a great sense of joy.
Thank you for posting your work.
Have a happy and productive rest of the week.
    Happy Trails

  6. Ahhhh, the yard. It has become a sort of thorn in the side so to say. More hard work than I could have imagined. Cutting stone by hand, chipping, carving, etc, in hot and humid weather. Thank goodness for father-in-laws like mine. As you can see, this is the reason I haven't posted anything on my blog in nearly 2 months. I have done little painting, but I do hope to get back to painting once the work is finished. Maybe in the next few weeks I will try to post some smaller paintings I have done during the past 2 months. Thanks again for stopping by.
